Hi all

Anybody who has read a little on this forum is likely to have come across my expressions of frustration at the Stroke Association.

I’m going to level the playing field a little because 90% of my feelings are directed at 10% of their operation and experiences delivered by 2% of their staff (numbers indicative not literal !)

In praise of a different one or 2%

I will set on the record that yesterday @Nige & I had a SECOND and once again wholly positive supportive friendly constructive forward looking meeting with the Stroke Voices In Research coordinator

The contrast with the forum management and subsequent directorial escalation path within the complaints procedure is night and day different.

A breath of fresh air. Perhaps, just perhaps the admin team are out of their depth technically and someone like Simon with his level of knowledge puts them on the defensive. That position has morphed into what seems like hostility.
As we have seen consistently, the SA is in some areas a tea and biscuits set up. Is it any wonder the appointing managers don’t have a vision of what’s needed for online. It didn’t seem like the directors did either.

So to find such a welcoming approach from research is fantastic and one to be very much welcomed.
There are 100 people is these research teams who participate is reviewing funding applications. It remains a mystery why none of them ever posted on the SA forum.
Also found that the research team is reviewing items where they are approached for funding. They don’t currently go out shopping for identified gaps in support.
There are 21 items which the research team are governed by. We don’t know what those are yet but over a 1000 people had input into them

and I have known what the criteria are for a couple of yeasr! AND I posted the links in https://stroke.logicalmodel.net/flarum/public/d/101-research-prioritisation-criteria 🙂 after we spoke to Neelam - there is a more ‘snazzy’ pdf that ive seen but not uploaded/ link - i will if i recall its location

“they” the wrong 2% have affected my mental health because i’m rationally of the mind that i must set the shit aside to move on with whats important BUT im still angry. So angry that I’ll say here I characterise the pre-meditated intents of both Donna & Dominic (directors) as Duplicitous. A grave flaw in those with offices held within the Governance structure - I hope that the Chair of Trustees acts on and answers my brief note to him.

I should like to thank you for responding previously 🙂

Sadly interaction with the stroke association management and directors has been fruitless. Last week saw an irreversible and unfortunate escalation by them.

The events of the past 18+mths have led to the formation of the Stroke Improvement Group https://bit.ly/SIGcharter

The complaints process has proved to be partisan at every step, significantly at odds with the SA published values and safeguarding ‘aspirations’. Events so far exemplify a failure of governance 🙁

I hope that perhaps you will invite the organisation to reflect on its tone and its reaction to motivated ‘lived experience experts’ trying to improve all things stroke in line with the ongoing shift in stroke demographics and service delivery technologies.

Thus far the SA has reinforced the negative aspects of its reputation prevalent in several quarters

I watched WolfHall ep6 “The Light” this week and the youTubes of the Post Office enquiry over the last few months. They are both so parallel to the behaviours of and corruptions of, and the lack of Habeas corpus - AND this DOES matter

because we have to see the lessons of history that gave rise to societal safeguards and ‘normal civil rights and expectations’ reinvented for digital spaces because they’ve ben so very absent in the Stroke Association’s discharge of its Duty of Care.

If I don’t hear in the new year i’ll investigate what the Charity Commissioner’s opinions are - Its profound to the development of digital community in chronic care settings
