It is possible that following a stroke that your hearing and other items (See cpsp thread) may become hyper sensitive. This may make loud sounds very uncomfortable. As though the volume has been turned up considerably to the point where it is painful. Cutlery placed on a plate might seem as though your ear is actually on that plate.
You may well find yourself asking family members to keep the volume down.
How you are affected by this may depend on where your stroke was. The thalamus for example processes all senses apart from smell. Damage here or within the central nervous system may cause problems.
