I am always struck when you look at pictures of the first car or aeroplane or computer and then at The pictures at 20-year or 50-year intervals and you see the progression. When you add in the capacities such as speed or power consumption or power delivery There is always an equally amazing set of s curves of progress over time.
I guess you’re going into this at the beginning of what will be revolutionary as we start to embed things into the brain. Yesterday I was reading about a trial bunch of blind people who had a chip inserted into their retina that had restored their ability to see. No details on the connections from the chip to the visual cortex but clearly that ‘$6 million man’ eye is an approaching reality.
To have a pain regulation mechanism will be so life-changing for many and the analogous and derivative technologies we can only guess at
