Simon yes there are Simon, plenty around but they only seem to be used for depression and migraines. Some in the private sector. No one I contacted had ever heard of it being used for pain anywhere near Bristol.
Unfortunately I had to rule out tms due to distance, needing regular repeats and now I have stainless steel wires in my head, that tms door has firmly shut for me. Taking the wires out seems more dangerous than when they went in.
I did pose this roll out question to the Oxford team as part of the decision making for DBS. They suggested it was because they hadn’t been able to prove it works. My main query when I was trying to find out more about this was why hasn’t this rolled out after 8 years. When do you bin something ?
Yet it’s still going, must be 10+ years on, seemingly serving the people of the north west. If it’s hard to roll out and you are serving your local community, maybe you stop trying. Given it’s non invasive, now matter how good invasive options might be, this must be one of the first things after meds that people would try if meds don’t give enough relief. That’s the case for 5 out of 6 people.
That or possibly Oxygen therapy. There are various MS Centres around who started out as MS only but now do other neurological conditions, as well as other types of injury.
